Your site is built and ready. This page walks you through the one final step — pointing your domain to your new website. No technical experience needed. Average time: 5 minutes.
This guide uses a method called nameserver delegation — you make a small change inside your own account, and your domain points to your new site. We never need to log in, and your account credentials stay completely private. If anyone ever asks for your registrar password, that is not us.
GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google Domains — wherever you bought your domain
Swap the existing nameservers with the four values we give you below

Copy and paste these exactly — one per nameserver field in your registrar. You'll need all four.
Select where you bought your domain for exact step-by-step instructions.
Click Sign In at the top right. Enter your GoDaddy email and password.
After signing in, click your name or profile icon in the top right corner, then click My Products from the dropdown menu.
Under the Domains section, find your domain name in the list. Click the DNS button next to it.
On the DNS Management page, scroll down until you see a section labeled Nameservers. You'll see it currently says something like "Using default nameservers" with values like ns1.domaincontrol.com.
Look for a button or link that says Change or Change Nameservers next to the current nameserver values. Click it.
GoDaddy will show you options. Select I'll use my own nameservers or Enter my own nameservers (advanced).
Clear out what's there and enter these values — one per field. Use the Add Nameserver link if you need a 3rd and 4th field.
Click Save. GoDaddy may show a warning that says changing nameservers will affect your email or other services — click Yes, I consent or Continue to confirm. This is expected and okay.
Click Sign In at the top right. Enter your Namecheap username and password.
From the top navigation, click Account → Dashboard, then click Domain List in the left sidebar. You'll see all your domains listed.
Find your domain in the list and click the Manage button on the right side of the row.
On the domain management page, you'll see a section called Nameservers. It will have a dropdown currently set to Namecheap BasicDNS or Namecheap Web Hosting DNS.
Click the dropdown and select Custom DNS from the list. New input fields will appear for you to enter nameserver values.
Fill in the fields with the nameserver values. Click Add Nameserver to get additional fields for NS3 and NS4.
Click the green checkmark or Save button. Namecheap will confirm the change. You're done!
Use the Google account credentials you originally used for Google Domains. Squarespace migrated your account automatically.
Once logged in, click the Squarespace tab above for the exact steps to update your nameservers.
Sign in with your Squarespace account credentials (or Google account if you transferred from Google Domains).
From the domains list, click the domain you want to connect.
In the domain management panel, click DNS Settings or Advanced Settings.
Scroll to the Nameservers section and click Edit or Use Custom Nameservers.
Click Save. Squarespace may warn you that this will disconnect any Squarespace website or email associated with the domain. Confirm and continue.
The exact menu names vary by registrar but the process is the same everywhere. Look for these terms inside your registrar's control panel:
Look for a section called My Domains, Domain List, or Domain Manager.
You're looking for a setting called Nameservers, Name Servers, DNS Servers, or Custom DNS. It is NOT the same as DNS records (A records, CNAME, MX, etc.) — you want the nameservers specifically.
There's usually a dropdown or radio button to switch from the default nameservers to custom ones. Select the custom/manual option.
Before or alongside changing your nameservers, Netlify requires you to verify that you own your domain. You do this by adding a special TXT record. We will email you your unique TXT record value — it looks something like this:
Your verification email from us will include these two values. Add them exactly as shown.
Here's where to add it in each registrar. Note: this is different from the nameservers — you're adding a DNS record, not replacing nameservers. Both steps are needed.
Same path as before: sign in → My Products → click DNS next to your domain.
You'll see a table of existing DNS records (A, CNAME, MX, etc.). Look for an Add button at the top or bottom of the table.
The record will appear in your DNS table. Then proceed to change your nameservers using the steps above. You can do both in the same session.
Sign in → Domain List → click Manage next to your domain → click the Advanced DNS tab at the top.
In the Host Records section, click the Add New Record button.
Then proceed to update your nameservers using the Namecheap tab above. Email us when both are done.
Sign in, click your domain, then click DNS Settings.
Find the Custom Records section at the bottom of the DNS Settings page and click Add Record.
Click Save, then follow the Squarespace nameserver steps above. Email us when both steps are complete.
Every registrar has a DNS records table where you can add custom records. Look for it under DNS Management, Advanced DNS, or DNS Settings. You're adding a new row to that table — not changing nameservers.

After you save the nameservers, the internet needs a little time to update everywhere. This is called DNS propagation and it's completely automatic — you don't need to do anything.
To check if your domain has propagated, visit dnschecker.org, enter your domain name, and look for green checkmarks across locations. When you see mostly green, you're live.
